What if one of the biggest growth opportunities for your practice has nothing to do with getting more physical therapy patients? Most clinic owners think they're in the physical therapy business, but I would argue you're actually in the health and wellness business. And that's important because the health and wellness industry will be worth more than $3 trillion globally in the next five years. Yet most PT clinics are only capturing a tiny fraction of that opportunity. Today I want to talk about how some of the fastest growing practices are expanding beyond traditional physical therapy and positioning themselves as wellness brands and how your clinic can do the same. So here's the reimbursement trap. Let's you know start with this question. How many clinic owners have spent years trying to increase their reimbursement? Maybe you're getting $80 per visit and you'd love to get to 100, and that's totally understandable. But think about what you're you know really talking about here. You're fighting for an extra $20 per visit. Meanwhile, there may be an entirely new revenue stream, or streams even, sitting right in front of you. And sometimes the biggest growth opportunity isn't increasing what you get paid for PT, it's expanding the number of services that you actually offer. And you see, the clinics that grow the fastest often stop thinking only about physical therapy visits and start thinking about the entire health journey of their patients. So you have to think like a wellness brand. And here's that mindset shift. Patients don't wake up and say, I want physical therapy today. They say, I want to get rid of this pain, I want to get back to golf, I want to lose weight, I want to stay active, I want to be healthier, I want to move better. And physical therapy is that one solution that really answers a lot of these. But it's often not the only solution. And that's why I encourage clinic owners to think beyond being a PT clinic and start thinking about becoming a wellness brand. In fact, I've seen this happen much more advanced in Canada than in the US. And I also think that there are quite a few years ahead of us in this concept of making a wellness brand and bringing in all kinds of service lines into their business. See, a trusted resource for helping people improve their health and movement, performance, and quality of life should be you. And when you think that way, new opportunities start to appear. So what services could you add? Well, once you start viewing your clinic as a wellness business, you can ask a powerful question. What else do my patients need? For some clinics, that might be nutrition coaching, maybe bringing in chiropractic services, massage therapy, personal training, strength and conditioning, recovery services, wellness memberships, stretching programs, injury prevention programs. You see, the goal isn't to become everything to everyone. The goal is to identify complementary services that help your patients and especially your demographic of patients you really want to treat achieve their goals while creating additional revenue opportunities for your practice. Many patients need more than just physical therapy alone. And the question is whether they'll get those services from you or they'll get them from someone else.

Alright, let's talk about sports performance because this is a huge growth opportunity. And one area we're seeing tremendous opportunity is really in the sports performance area. You see, most clinics market rehabilitation, but far fewer market sports performance. And that's where the opportunity exists. Athletes don't just want to recover from injuries, they want to perform better, run faster, move better, stay healthier, improve their strength and mobility. And we're not just talking young athletes, we're talking a lot of active adults in today's society. And physical therapists are uniquely positioned to help with those goals. And those performance services often allow clinics to build relationships that continue long after rehabilitation is complete. Now, another one that we've seen success with is golf rehab. And here's a perfect example. So a golfer may come to your clinic because of back pain, shoulder pain, or limited mobility, and you help them recover, which is fantastic. But then what happens next? Many golfers want more than just pain relief. They want to improve their game, they want to have more mobility, more flexibility, more distance, more consistency. And that's where golf performance programs become an opportunity for you. And now you're not just helping someone recover from an injury, you're helping them play better at golf, and that's a completely different value proposition and a completely different revenue stream and much more cash-based. The other thing too is memberships are fantastic, and also massage therapy is a great adjunct. It's really an untapped opportunity for your practice. So let's take a look at this other opportunity many PT clinic owners are overlooking, and that's those recurring wellness services. And so once a patient finishes their plan of care, the relationship doesn't have to end. Wellness memberships, mobility programs, stretching programs, recovery services, all kinds of different uh stretching sessions, if you will, can help patients stay healthy while creating recurring revenue for your practice. And the the subscription model is probably one of the best financial models out there. How can your practice tap into that? Well, they can do it with these wellness programs and massage therapy programs. And we've seen massage therapy is another great example here that practices are really having success with. And we've run Google Ad campaigns for clinics offering cash-pay massage therapy services, and we've seen tremendous demand for this. In fact, one of our clients, Anchor PT, generated so much interest through Google Ads that they're now considering a dedicated massage and stretch focused location. And that's the power of thinking beyond just traditional physical therapy services. The goal isn't just to treat injuries, it's to create additional ways to help people move better, feel better, stay healthier longer. And we've got to look at ourselves as the mechanics of the body for life. Heck, you go see your dentist every six months, right? So if there's one takeaway from today's episode, it's this. Stop thinking of your clinic as just a physical therapy practice. Start thinking of it as a health and wellness business because the opportunity in front of you is much bigger than physical therapy alone, and you don't have to battle the insurance companies as hard. The clinics that thrive over the next decade will be the ones that build wellness brands, create additional service lines for their business, become that hybrid practice that they need to become, and find new ways to help patients long after their rehab is complete. So this week I want you to ask yourself, hmm, what other problems can we solve for the patients we already serve? Because the answer may be your next major growth opportunity. Now, if you're looking for ways to grow beyond traditional physical therapy services for yourself, go ahead and reach out to our team at Practice Promotions.
